In this episode Eric interviews Bethany Fleck Dillen (for a Part 2 interview) from Metropolitan State University-Denver in Denver, CO. We reconnect on many topics relating to Bethany’s personal life, including her service to the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association and the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. We chat about challenges students face, such as how to address faculty, and how conference experiences can be monumental in a student’s professional development. We revisit Bethany’s path to ‘mommy guilt’ research, including her recent TEDx talk. We chat about career paths and trajectories, and then, it happened. About 44 minutes into this interview, we got to the topic that Bethany wanted to discuss: the death of a parent. Tears follow (for both of us).
