In this episode Garth interviews Alison Melley from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Alison discusses post-pandemic life, to Zoom or not to Zoom, and the importance of a good microphone. She is embedded deeply into the teaching of teachers, which she provides for graduate students, and she actively explores the possibilities with open educational resources (OER). Alison is at the forefront of putting all this knowledge, skill, and ability together and implementing APA Introductory Psychology Initiative (IPI) themes into her intro course. She considers herself a generalist, even though by training she earned a clinical PhD. Alison discusses how she enjoyed some of the “great” teachers for her and how she does not to to be exactly like them — and they discuss so much more.
